Slay’s Nursery

A charming nursery and gardening store.

While working as a floral designer, Terri Slay saw an increasing demand for large ferns as decoration for events and weddings. She felt this was a challenge that she could take on, and in 1999, became a wholesale provider. Eventually, the business was expanded to include a retail nursery that offers houseplants, hanging baskets, and succulents, as well as shrubs and fruit trees. Lots of decorative items and yard art can be found, too.

The Slays say that the support of the community has been a blessing, but growing quality plants has made the business a success. They are the exclusive provider of the beautiful hanging baskets that can be seen all over the cities of Foley, Bay Minette, and Atmore as well as The Summit in Birmingham.

They describe their 20-year relationship with United Bank as wonderful. The advice and assistance that has been given over the years has helped it to grow into the thriving business it is today. The nursery is neat and attractive and a great place to spend an afternoon. A favorite story of the Slays’ daughter, Taylor, was when she was asked by a regular customer what contract did she need to sign to make sure her burial plot was at the nursery, because she still wanted to be able to visit after she died.
