Nixon Farms Corn Maze
A Fun-Filled Corn Maze in Okaloosa, Florida
Shannon Nixon has farmed in Okaloosa County, Florida since 1988. When asked why he started a six-acre corn maze four years ago, he replied, “Insanity!” Nixon is not insane but has a passion for educating people and sees the fields of corn, sunflowers, soybeans, and peanuts as a way to show kids and adults where our food comes from. He is amazed at the diversity of the people who come from miles away to visit the maze. And he is always happy to host school field trips.
In addition to the corn maze, Nixon Farms hosts A Day on the Farm event around Easter with children’s activities, tractor and farm equipment displays, and an Easter egg drop of 12,000 eggs! Nixon wants to remind everyone to be thankful for farmers. He, in turn, is thankful for his strong relationship with United Bank…so much so that he features a UB logo within the maze. He counts Ag Lenders Rachel Holland and Dawn Hollingsworth as not only his bankers but as personal friends, adding, “They put the personal touch on banking.”
The Nixon Farms Corn Maze is located on Martin Mill Road in Baker, Florida, and is open every Saturday and Sunday from the end of September through October. In addition to the maze, there are activities for the kids, a pumpkin patch, a concession stand, and the newest attraction, the Super Mega Ride and Slide with 150 feet of pure excitement!
