Hawt Mess Boutique did not start out as your typical storefront business. Owner Sara Cunningham-Smith began by selling out of her vehicle in 2012. She posted on social media and did shows and parties at customers’ homes. Eventually, she purchased a 1966 Airstream travel trailer and refurbished it to spotlight her clothing, shoes, and accessories and the business literally took off as she was able to travel to area markets.

In 2021, Sara opened her retail space on Main Street in Atmore. She said she was scared at first but “I just decided to jump in and I’ve been busy ever since!” Being on Main Street has helped with business promotion as well as the casino traffic and out-of-town visitors who Google for area attractions and shops.

Sara said that she and her family have always banked with United Bank. “It’s been a great relationship!”

Hawt Mess carries women’s clothing in sizes small to 3XL, men’s and tween’s clothing, jewelry and shoes.

There’s also a nice selection of gifts, candles by Tyler Candle Company and Bridgewater Candles, Swig and Brumate tumblers, and much more.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday 10 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday 10 AM to 2 pm.
